Help in Leeds is an online directory of all the support services available in Leeds for refugees and asylum seekers, and the people helping them.
Abigail Housing
Abigail Housing is a charity that provides new refugees with temporary accommodation to help bridge the gap between Home Office support and a successful application for social housing or time to work towards saving a deposit to go into private rented accommodation. They have roughly 60 bed spaces in Leeds, all single-sex shared houses. The charity helps residents navigate the welfare system so that they can receive the support they are entitled to.
LASSN
Leeds Asylum Seekers’ Support Network (LASSN) runs projects that address the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants at risk of harm or exploitation in Leeds. The charity raises awareness of issues faced by people seeking refuge in our city.
Leeds Migration Partnership
The Leeds Migration Partnership brings together organisations from across Leeds to talk about issues around refugees, asylum seekers and other migrant groups. They are a mixture of voluntary, community and statutory organisations.
Manuel Bravo Project
Manuel Bravo Project provides free legal representation to asylum seekers and refugees who cannot get legal aid.
PAFRAS
Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (PAFRAS) helps asylum seekers who are destitute or at risk of destitution in Leeds. The charity provides emergency crisis intervention (food parcels, vouchers and emergency accommodation), independent Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) regulated immigration advice, casework and integrated mental health support.
Path Yorkshire
Path Yorkshire is a registered charity that provides training programmes and employability and English language support to ethnic minority communities, migrant groups and refugees. The charity collaborates with employers to improve workplace equality, diversity and inclusion.
Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is a charity that provides crisis advice, mental health counselling and practical support to help people settle and integrate into their new community. The charity specialises in working with refugee children who arrive in the UK alone.
RETAS
Refugee Education Training Advice Service (RETAS) offers a range of services. The charity provides assistance with access to education, re-qualification, training and employment to help refugees better integrate into their communities. RETAS strives to build service users’ confidence and hope, empowering them to create a safe and secure life here in the UK.
SOLACE
Solace is a Leeds-based charity that provides mental health and wellbeing support, including psychotherapy, to refugees and asylum seekers in Yorkshire and the Humber.
St Vincent’s Centre
St Vincent’s Centre is a community support project dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals and families in Leeds through advice, support, education and community. The centre has a community café, furniture depot and charity shop.
